چکیده

Presently available evidence indicates that phosphatidic acid is an essential intermediate in the biosynthesis of glycerophosphatides in Escherichia coli. Two alternative pathways for the synthesis of phosphatidic acid in E. coli have been proposed, one involving the acylation of L-glycerol j-phosphate, and the second the direct phosphorylation of o, /3-diglyceride, catalyzed by the enzyme diglyceride lrinase. If the latter pathway occurs to a significant extent in living cells of E. coli, one would expect to find a metabolically active pool of diglyceride in this organism. Pulse experiments with radioactive glycerol have failed to reveal the presence of such a pool, under conditions in which a very rapid synthesis of phosphatidic acid is taking place. Cellfree extracts of such cells, however, have been found to contain diglyceride kinase. Diglyceride lrinase has been shown to be highly stereospecific, catalyzing the phosphorylation of diglycerides with the formation of derivatives of Lglycerol 3-phosphate only. Some implications of these fmdings for the physiological function of diglyceride kinase are discussed.

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli infection induces tight junction proteins expression in mice

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) causes diarrhea in travelers, young children and piglets, but the precise pathogenesis of ETEC induced diarrhea is not fully known. Recent investigations have shown that tight junction (TJ) proteins and aquaporin 3 (AQP 3) are contributing factors in bacterial diarrhea. In this study, using immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry analyses, we found that E...

Anti-cancer properties of Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 against HT-29 colon cancer cells through regulation of Bax/Bcl-xL and AKT/PTEN signaling pathways

Objective(s): Chemotherapies used to treat colon cancer might often fail due to the emergence of chemoresistance and side effects. Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) is a beneficial probiotic, whose molecular mechanisms in the prevention of colon cancer are yet to be fully understood. The present study assessed the anti-cancer effects of EcN treatments in human colorec...

Synthesis and Expression of Modified bFGF Gene in Escherichia coli Cells

A new strategy for construction of synthetic gene encoding human basic fibroblast growth factor comprising DNA annealing-ligation and augmentation by polymerase chain reaction was introduced. The sequence of the gene and corresponding amino acid chain were modified in order to increase stability of the protein. First, 300 bp and 160 bp fragments of the gene were assembled from 18 oligonucleotid...

Synthesis, morphological, characterization and evaluation of antibacterial effects of Silver-Polyaniline nanocomposites against Escherichia coli

Silver-Polyaniline (Ag-PANI) nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ oxidative polymerization of aniline monomer in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) solution as an emulsifier. The synthesis of Silver-Polyaniline nanocomposites was investigated as a function of several parameters such as aniline concentration, concentration of emulsifier (AOT), concentration of oxidation agent and c...
